i supported my xwife & son for 11 months 2006. she already claimed him so my claim is rejected. how or what can i do to challange this?

Did your son live with you for more than 6 months? If not, then your ex gets to claim him unless it is stated in the divorce decree or she signed a form 8332 giving you the exemption.

The IRS rules are that the custodial parent claims the dependents unless the above applies.

If she's the custodial parent, and you don't have a valid court order that you can claim your son, then she can claim him and you don't have a valid challenge to her claim. By IRS rules, the custodial parent has the right to the exemption.
