My grandson was born with his stomach and all organs on the wrong side-his heart and liver is reversed

This is a rare but well-known phenomenon. Some identical twins are born with one normal and the other with "mirror image" organs, and one theory is that in cases like your grandson, the pregnancy started as twins, but one embryo died very early and was reabsorbed by the mother when it was just a few cells. I have no idea if this theory has any basis in fact, but it's one that I have heard.
