six months ago I had a Sigmoidoscopy procedure, and also had some internal piles (banded). Although the outcome of that procedure was OK. ie. nothing untowards was found. since this procedure, every morning I wake up with back ache and a 'stitch' like pain at the bottom of my stomach at the right-hand side. This pain only eases when I have had a bowel movemement. Before these procedures I did not get this pain.
Could I have picked up some kind of infection from these procedures ?

Anything is possible. See your doctor and go through the symptoms with him.

I think you would stop feeling the pain if you would use a powdered fiber supplement twice daily. This will make bowel movements easier with less strain on the body which could be causing the pain. Eat whole grain cereals and fruits to help with this.
