I assume that depends on the evolutionary level of male that you talk to or type that you attract for conversation.
Personally I am quite happy to ask direct questions although on certain occasions a little diplomacy is best, depends on the occasion.

We dont need to, men have much better spatial awareness, and we dont need to turn maps so that the road we're currently on faces the same direction.
But to be fair to women, we cant drive at 25mph whilst singing to Galaxy AND putting on mascara at the same time, to be that dumb takes patience and practice.

Well Mucky, how long is a piece of string? Will they ever evolve to leave the toilet seat up, will they ever listen to us...really listen? Will they ever stop accusing us of moaning?Will they leave a clean sink and bath....etc etc and it goes on!
