All else being equal, a 12" speaker will be louder than a 10" speaker with the same input. This is simply because a 12" speaker has a larger cone area and moves more air than a 10" speaker. This is not to say that all 12" speakers are louder than all 10" speakers! There are a lot more factors that go into it, but in general it's easier to get loud bass with a larger speaker.

10's will respond faster than 12's so they may sound more punchy and louder to the listener. 10's in general will not go as low in frequency for deep bass. Although they may sound louder with certain types of music and with certain sources.

10's will also require a smaller box for best performance compared to most 12's. This makes them more desirable for mobile audio when space for the sub enclosure is at a premium.

If you're using MP3 burned CD's or an MP3 player such as iPod for your source then 10's will sound just as good as 12's. If your using original CD's for your source you may hear the difference with 12's in a high quality system.

10's will usually handle a little less RMS and peak wattage also.

A 10" driver will not hit "harder" or be "tighter" than its corresponding 12", 15", or 18" driver. This is all Dependant on the enclosure the driver is in, not the driver itself.

yea it is kinda true 10" subs with the right amp will have a stronger THUMP than bigger sized subs.....while the bigger the sub with of coarse the right amplifier, the more NOISE and bass it will create for no reason lol unless ur into competition.

it depends on what kind of music you listen to. 10s can usually keep up with faster bass notes better, 12s usually hit harder/deeper and are better for rap and stuff
