I have tried lasers and creams. It's a long process and have stopped. I would like to know how women treat this issue and how men view this kind of physcial "flaw." Any helpful and supportive answers are apprecited. Thanks, K

go to a dermatologist specializing in that type of thing, not just pimple popping

I f the laser and creams haven't worked I don't know what will. I was born with a very dark brown one on the side of my face and before I started school I had plastic surgery done on it and I don't think it changed anything looking back at the pictures, just a lot of teasing by the 'perfect' kids. So I think we are stuck with it. Even with the plastic surgery, I can see spots starting to come back 30 years later. AS I was growing up i would use foundation cream to cover the different colour of the scar, but now I really don't care what anyone thinks, some people that I have met say they didn't even notice it, I think we are too critical on ourselves.

Regarding mens view of such a physical flaw....

I once had a girlfriend that I really really loved, she broke off the relationship not me. She had open heart surgery when she was little, as a result she had a scar that looked like a welding bead that ran from just above her navel to almost the top of her chest, right between her breasts. Obvious to anyone if she was wearing a bathing suit or low cut top. I didn't care about it, never ever bothered me in the least. I fell in love with the woman before I ever saw this and it never ever bothered me.

So, if someone really loves you, they won't care. It's a part of you. The only time it might bother them is for how it effects your self esteem. If your dating someone that it does bother, then you know they don't really love "you" and you should move on.

Those people who make fun of you have a problem, not you. Do they think they are perfect? I know they aren't. Nothing is wrong with a birthmark, I have 3 and I am proud of my birthmarks. Don't worry about what people say or do, they are very insecure. Good Luck!

Honestly I do not know how to get rid of it..... a discoloration or birth mark such as this would not effect my view of the person who had it. In fact I would not consider such a birthmark a flaw at all. But I would consider a persons negative portrayal of them self a flaw.

Just cover it up with creams or make-up.
