You don't need ANY pills, and you don't need any special advice from a doctor (tho' I'll give you my advice for free)
Eat a healthful, balanced diet, and limit your caloric intake to 1200-1500 calories per day. Eat fruits and veggies (V8 is a great way to get veggies on the go), and avoid processed foods.
Processed foods are full of high fructose corn syrup, which I believe is what is making us all fat.
Try to eat 3 small meals a day, plus 3 healthy snacks. You won't be hungry (much) and you WILL lose weight.
Don't expect to lose more than 1-2 pounds per week. If you change your eating habits FOR LIFE and eat like a thin person, you will become that thin person (or at least a non-obese person).
Exercise is good too.

There is no easy way to lose weight. All you have to do is have a plan and STICK TO IT such as a set number of calories and a set number of fat grams in one day. Eat healthier and smaller portions. No food other than you cook at home or known at a friends house (so you can control how much fat and calories)Do not consume more calories and fat than you burn in a day and exercise. Cut sugar out and you should do fine.

Easy, No. Straightforward, yes....Eat less and exercise more. Fundamentally, if you burn more calories than you consume you will lose weight. If you consume more than you burn, you will gain weight. That's all there is to it...
If you eat less, just make sure that you eat a healthy balanced normal diet.
