It didn't go anywhere. There are no such thing as evil spirits, or non-evil spirits, or any other kind of spirits except in foolish religious superstitions.

In the case of Leigon the demons begged Jesus not to torment them (before thier time) but rather allow them to take a herd of pigs. In doing so the pigs thew themselves off a cliff and were killed.
From there where did the demons go? It is not clear.
