my living room is currently white,,,,even the fireplace is painted white. I have red sofas, and black entertainment center and tables. What color should I paint the walls??? What about the fireplace what can I do to make it stand out?
And also what would be a good color for the curtains?

Bonnie, it may very much depend on the style of home you have- contemporary, ranch, country, Victorian and the complementary style of your furniture - modern, traditional.
In general, contemporary homes have more leeway with color, handling bold and muted shades well. Also depends on your taste. That you have red sofas is a great start, but you have to consider (1) what you want the focal point of your living room to be (the sofas, the fireplace, etc); you don't want more than 2. (2) what type of flooring and the color.
(3) in my opinion, the curtains should be subdued. It's a poorly designed room that has curtains as a focal point, especially if you have other great features. (4) the walls have to stay light, but anything except white or off white will work.
If you want the fireplace to POP, paint it the same color as your sofas. There is no competing with red, especially a bright red. But everything else will have to take a back seat to that or you will overwhelm the room and ruin the effect.

Keep the fireplace white and paint the walls a light sky blue. If you add blinds or curtains go with white

Go with a lavender-blue for your wallls. You will love the contrast with the red. I do not use anything on my windows. I like to bring in the outdoors. If you need window coverings, I would suggest you downplay them. Maybe keep them white or cream top sashes that you can let down. If you leave the fireplace white accent it with silver and gray and maybe a painted vase (red), to bring in your couches. There is a paint called flame blue that is what I use. Be creative, don't be afraid to use the bold colors. It will enrich your days.....

I would say to paint the walls yellow. It sounds a little strange but the yellow actually makes the room pop. Then you can accent the rest of the room with greens and navys and purples. You don't want to paint the walls too dark, because it will make the room appear much smaller.

=)

yeah, beige, it's within the color charts. it's in the color group but it will provide good contrast to the red and black. the curtain color maybe something darker (maroon) or lighter than red, but not the same shade as the sofa.

What some gold color? it truly is between orange and pink yet i don't think of it is going to circulate too solid with a pink kitchen till your front room would not circulate your kitchen. something on the line of a terracotta color. via the way, it is not a stupid question. each physique, including me, can't be an indoors decorator. solid success and shop your rainbow intact!!!!

i'd go for a darker beige on the walls with some big white curtains to set it off. are your ceilings vaulted? or do you have a lot of windows? because the amount of light could make a huge difference too
