Espionage books especially those by Ludlum. I like the suspense of not knowing who your enemy is and also the fun of travelling to different places and be in difficult situations. Keeps my heart pounding and makes it difficult for me to put down the book.

Anything I can get my hands on. Generally I like to read about relationships - but it should be well written.
I also like to read historical novels to I can have a better understanding of world events. i like reading biographies and autobiographies and of course self help books about pyschology . i will read mysteries but I find that i can figure out the ending so i don't enjoy it too much.
i read my husbands Car magazines and popular science too - i try and read a book a day and over the weekend I can usually finish 2 books. If i have an importat project I must complete then I have to force myself not to pick up a book.
Sadly none of my 8 kids likes to read.

When I was growing up during the seventies, I literally devoured the whole book collection of La Comtesse de Ségur (all twenty books!) in a matter of months.

I used to get 75 cents a week for pocket money so I would systematically save it for a couple of weeks and religiously run alone into my local bookstore and buy the whole collection volume by volume.

It took me several months to complete my very own first literary collection but it was a real treat and a pure pleasure to be able to achieve something that may seem rather trivial to an adult but I was only a little girl attending elementary school in Eastern Canada back then and to me, it was one of the most rewarding achievement I could have accomplished at such a young, innocent and carefree age.

All this happened over thirty years ago but I can still remember my regular trips to the bookstore like it was yesterday. I felt so excited and proud of myself for saving my precious pocket money, I used to literally run into the store and could hardly wait to get my hands on the next volume.

God I wish I could turn the clock back thirty years to this happier and more innocent period of my life! Growing up in Montreal in the seventies felt like such a safe haven back then...

I can still remember the smell of each new book; it was such an intoxicating and haunting scent that stayed with me for years.

To this day, I still have my whole collection of volumes (I have kept them in mint condition!) and always look upon every single one of them with great, undiminished yet incurable nostalgia.

I have always wanted to offer my books to my future children one day but sadly, I never had a family of my own...

I have bought and read many novels since those days (I eventually attended The University of Montreal in the late eighties and studied French Literature there) but no subsequent book ever compared to my first literary love.

I love all types of books! But, my favorite is science fiction and fantasy, as well as a few classic novels. Books are great, can't you just see the words fly off the page? :)

I like the Terry Pratchett novels. His writing style is light and easy on the brain, but he still makes you think. He's funny and profound at the same time. There aren't many books that make me laugh and say 'wow' at the same time.

And particularly Ann McCaffrey's Pern series.
A world of her own making, with the sme errors we make - only they get solved. Unlike ours!
