Do you vaccum them? I know that sounds odd but when I purchased mine within a yr mine were looking rough too no one eats on them, drinks on them, they dont get wet and so forth. My MIL had her couchs long before I purchased mine and her's still looked brand new. She told me she vaccums them once a week and she also gave me a list of how to clean the couchs if they got dirty. If you want the list let me know and I'll post it. Also a damp cloth run over it can work wonders. There are times though that you get a "bad batch" of material if thats the case call the furniture company up if its still under warantee and have it replaced.

How much direct sunlight do the sofas get? That can age the fabric greatly.

If you did nothing to dirty them then it is the fabric. Perhaps it is time for a change, Or if the fapric is removeable then dry clean them. You can also steam clean the couch if you know what you are doing.
