This engine has been smoking and has lost it's power. It only has 96,000 miles on it.

Forget rebuilding this motor.. unless you have the specialty micrometers and such to build this tight tolerance motor... it's best to reman.. yes cost is more BUT most give a great warranty and if it blows.. they have to fix it... rebuild you take a chance... no plastigage for tolerences on this one...

Before you do anything, have it checked out and make sure it is the engine. It could be something like a head gasket, fuel problem or a problem with the ignition. You can have the original engine rebuilt or you can trade it in and get a crate engine all ready to go. This will be more expensive than having the original rebuilt but you'll save some on the labor and the down time while they fix the old one.

do a leak down test and compression test before rebuilding or getting rebuild engine

If you rebuild it, it might be any better, I would just get another engine

tune up time!!! before u spend thousands on an engine that might not even need it try a tune up...no one can tell u how much it will cost we dont know what needs the be replaced...
