Hi there,
I am bridesmaid at my sisters wedding and have been given the job of putting something in their wedding room. What woukld you put in there? I don't want to do anything to wind them up so no daft horrible things. I was thinking of putting in there a bottle of champayne and perhaps a couple of helium balloons? Is that ok? Or got any other ideas please?

Get a basket... pack with

A bottle of champagne
A couple glasses
Crackers
Cheese
Chocolates
Strawberries
Mixed nuts
Some packaged cracker sized meats
Pudding/ Jello cups
and some other nibbly finger foods..

You can include some gag gifts such as..

Edible underwear
Whipped cream
A negligee
Silk Boxers
Satin rope
Fury Handcuffs
A ball and chain (plastic can be found in gag gift shop)

As long as you bury the gag gifts at the bottom so only they will see them as they dig into the basket it will be funny and not embarrassing..

Spray paint the basket in oone of thier wedding colors and tie with large bow in other color... Don't forget napkins small plates and plastic flatware so they can easily eat what you've left..

They may not immediately see the genius in the gift but at 3 am after some roudy love making the snacks will be much appreciated as they will not need to leave the room for energy to carry on...

The champagne and balloons are a nice gesture consider
buying some roses and spreading them all over the bed and making a trail on the floor. Maybe a nice fruit basket or a big box of chocolates, also consider maybe a nice bottle of wine
just encase they are not into the whole champagne thing. I would maybe look at seeing if the place they are staying has a stereo or small radio and place a couple of CD's they may enjoy on the night stand or by the player.

Yankee Candle makes a candle called "Wedding Day" that smells amazing. I would put those in there. The champagne is good but dont forget strawberries and glasses (real champagne glasses, not the plastic ones. Their toasting flutes wont be available for them to use as the staff will take them and pack them up, so you'll need to have a set for them) Maybe some chocolates too. The rose petals are good, but not that necessary, they look nice but alot of times they just create a mess.
If I could suggest one other thing, most couples dont eat at their reception and wind up famished in their rooms afterwards. Maybe get a couple of sandwiches and a couple cans of soda and just stick them in the mini fridge and leave a note so they know its in there in case they need something in their tummies.

Good luck!

You can have aroma therapy candles in her favorite scent lit around the room. Draw a bath and put a couple drops of scented bath oil, you can add floating candles there too. Rose petals are nice, as long as it is ok with the hotel staff, these can leave stains. You can also have some comfy robes for them and slippers to make their stay more comfortable. A cool idea is to put in their breakfast room-service order early and have it at their disposal, so they don't have to worry about it. Hope this helps!

You are on the right track with what you are thinking. The days are gone when people did tacky things to the honeymoon room. Also the hotels can be really sticky, kick up a fuss and charge the newlyweds if for example someone did something to the bed and it was damaged. You know the couple best, know what they like and just do things that you know they will be delighted with.

Isn't one of those 'depends' questions.

I was determined to party till the small hours at my wedding. I got pretty tipsy and was so knackered I couldn't face the prospect of sex. I also had to be up early to get a plane on honey moon (like 5 in the morning early).

What I would have appreciated is some nice shower gel to freshen up after all that dancing and some early morning breakfast stuff - cereal bars, juice cartons etc.

If your sister and hubby are thinking of slinking away to their room early then yes to all the bubbly and romantic stuff - a lot of hotels have cd players in the rooms now so a cd of some of their favourite tunes might be a nice idea too.

Everyone is saying candles but be careful with that. Fragranced candles give me migraines and make my fiance's allergies go haywire. Same with roses and flowers, if someone left us a boquet we'd be miserable until we got rid of it hahahaha...

The person who said dinner is right on! The bride and groom are bound to be starving by the time they arrive in the room.

Also, the cute joke with the clocks is great, as are the condoms everywhere and confetti in the bed, classic!

Good luck!

My bridesmaid filled the bath with water then put rose petals in bath and loads of candles in bathroom. She also covered inside the bed with confetti got stuck in all the wrong places lol. Our hotel put a tray with champagne, chocolates and roses in the room too. Have a look in card shops they have loads of bits and pieces you could use. Good luck hope the wedding goes well

A lot of fresh flowers and a big bowl of fruit. Champagne with glass champagne flutes. Bubble bath, massage oils, chocolates.
Ditch the balloons.
