I know it's in Brooklyn, but I mean what neighborhood in Brooklyn is the foot of the bridge?

The neighborhood is now referred to as DUMBO - which stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. Things to see on the Brooklyn side near the bridge: Grimaldi's Pizza, The River Cafe, The Brooklyn Ice Cream Factory, Jacques Torres Chocolates and the Jacques Torres Bakery. It's an easy walk to Brooklyn Heights - great old houses - the view from the Promenade of the Manhattan Skyline is great (there are benches to sit on).

Brooklyn Heights on the Brooklyn side, Lower East Side on the Manhattan side. Best part about the Brooklyn Bridge is its original girdle structure. The photo of it is world famous. By the way, it spans over the East River.
