To John Killebrew: I'm an illeterate Christian? Hee-hee. If you'd read, you'd know better.

To LabGrrl: I stand corrected about Thomas Jefferson. But, from what I've read, Einstein was not Christian at all-he came to the conclusion that something must have had a guiding hand since everything on earth is too complex to be a series of coincidences.

With 85% of the US population, and 33% of the world's, I suspect at least one of them believes that Deist Christians like Thomas Jefferson are not Deists who are also Christians but just Deists.

Typically a Deist believes in a divine creator, that created everything and then walked away to do other things. They do not believe that He is actively involved in anything happening on the earth.

Typically a Christian believes in a divine creator, that is actively involved in what is happening today. A God that will and does provide us with wisdom and understanding and the strength to do what He has in store for us.

The Deist is missing out on a lot when it comes to a personal relationship with God and His Son Jesus. They do not believe in a personal God, just one that created, spun everything into orbit and let it to run by itself. Therefore we cannot count on anyone doing for us what we cannot do ourselves.

Jefferson thought that Jesus was the ideal man, living a pure life, but He did not believe that He was God, or the Son of God, or that He was able to do miracles. He created his own Bible removing every passage that spoke of the deity of Christ and the miracles that he performed.

A diest belives in a divine being/creator, and makes no claims other than that. Jefferson was a Christian diest who edited his own version of the Bible, known as the Jefferson Bible, where he removed countless passages which he did not believe.

Deists are smart but spiritually disoriented. True Christians are not only smart but are also spiritually fulfilled! May you find the peace of Jesus Christ!

I didn't study either of them in that way. It's not like they are important to me personally. Perhaps someone who majored in history?
