And how do i prevent it?

It's not a pulled muscle or anything like that, its just a strong pain, right after i jog (and i do walk after i finish jogging).

It is called shin splints. It is caused by the bone jarring and aching. As you jog more and more your bones will strengthen and you will get less pain.

Sounds like you have shin splints. Basically, shin splints occur when the back of your lower leg (your calf) gets much stronger than the front (your shin).
Here are a few things that work for me:
1- First and foremost, check your shoes. Running shoes are only made to last about 6 months. If it's been that long or close to it, chances are you need a new pair of shoes. Old sneakers intesifies shin splints.
2- Stretch really well before runs. Focus on your calves a lot as you warm up.
3- Run backwards. This sounds crazy, but it actually works. Before you start out on your real run, jog a little ways from your starting point then jog back to it backwards. This strengthens your shins and makes them less likely to hurt.
4- Run on coushined surfaces. If possible, run on grass or a treadmill for a few days. Running on a softer surface can alleviate the pain until you feel better. The pounding of the pavement can worsen symptoms*.

*as you can see, I'm not a "sit back and recover" type of girl...I continue to train, just in modified ways until the pain is gone. do what works for you, though!
Good luck!

You should try putting ice and lotion on it..............or you could take a nap and let your leg rest on a heated pillow. You have shin splints and you need to stop jogging for a few weeks or days. It's not a big deal! I get shin splints from riding my bike and I do what I have written above. It helps sooooooooo much and really gets you a lot of energy!

I agree with it being shin splints. Check out the article below. You need to avoid impact for a while until it heals and slowly work your way back up when (if) you start doing impact exercises again. You can also change your running form and maybe get better shoes to prevent it from happening again.

you probably have shin splints. You need to stop jogging and take up a low impact exercise program like the elliptical or bicycling or swimming.
