make it something you are interested in,like my kid just did one on primordial dwarfism its hard to find stuff on it but it interested him i sent you the link he used to get started and he looked into things from there that were more specific to what he wanted to say ,but he liked doing the research because it is about these people who are the smallest in the world hope this helps good luck

Entymology. The study of bugs. Do arthropods, they're particularly interesting. Or maybe do a virutal dissection of a frog. I'd go with the bug thing... I like bugs...

Or genetics... you could report on how there are many different alleles of a trait and how one is recessive and the other is dominate... or the Human Genome Project. do it on the recent news of the honey bee population dying off, plus this effects flowers, farmers, etc.

Otherwise something genetic related, my favorite is something called gene chips, or genetic chips, for example could determine how a persons genetic makeup contributes to the effectiveness of a specific drug they take
