Why don't you search in google? Anyways, In 2025 it is estimated that Islam will be the largest in the world, right now it is christianity. If you are considering a religion, then how big that religion is should not make any difference to you. Just like the bad people in this world are more than the good ones, the wrong religion could be ruling the world.

The statistics are needed for the Religion reported, often, to be the fastest growing. In some countries the Census is not taken on the basis of religious affiliations. In Christianity, the Churches maintain a record of their members. It is not so in any other religion. So what be the dependable statistics !

First off I wisht to respond to seattlefan74's claim that Atheism is a religion in it's own right. As she claims to be an Atheist herslef I do not understand the source of her confustion, but nothing could be further from the truth. But in her words... ["Type in "religion", and you will see one of the definitions is "a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith". Atheists believe ardently that there is no god" ] ...
Atheism is a lack of belief, not a belief itself. Knowing that 2 + 2 does not equal 5, is not a belief. Knowing that a room is dark, untill the lamp of science is lit upon it, takes not belief but mere understanding. And my featherd friend, this multiverse we live in, is very dark. The zeal and fervancy that is associated with debating the true believers is most often the source of confusion as to seeing Atheists as having some sort of faith. We as scientific strong Atheists add up the facts of science and find that the sigma does not add up to god. There are however faith based weak Atheists out there who have declared Atheism not because they understand the math and logic as to why there is not a god, but because they usually have become rebellious to the "establishment" that does accept the notion of god(s). So the natural course of rebellion dictates that the rebel say the opposite of what they are rebelling against. I think the Nobel Laurete Samuel Weinberg said it best, that "Most scientists don't think about the notion of god often enough to call themselves Atheists." This is the essance of true Atheism, suspending judgement untill the jury of facts is in. We all would very much dislike a judge who said "your guilty" before you ever got to present your case.
Now as to your original question, (about time right?), the American Religious Identification Survey, conducted from 1990 to 2001 found that in sheer numbers, "Non-Religious" people were the fastest growing segement. Specifically a 5.6% increase. And as the nature of such studies is tenious at best, this number may be much larger now, or much smaller. I might also point out, that "Non-Religious" means a wide array of things, (Agnostic, Atheist, Pan-Theistic et. al.) but in essance, 14.1% do not actually believe in any particular testament, or mythology.
"Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful." ~ Seneca
"Come now, and let us reason together," Isaiah 1:18

Atheism or Islam. And yes, atheism is a religion. If you don't believe me, check out Merriam-Webster's online dictionary. Type in "religion", and you will see one of the definitions is "a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith". Atheists believe ardently that there is no god.
