No, they now use BCE (Before the common era) and CE (Common Era). Which is funny because the marking point is still Jesus, and as and Atheist i have no problem with BC and AD. We are using Jesus as the marking point. I would not mind my kids knowing this. It is part of history. It is fascinating. It shows us how the decision of something earlier is affecting today. So that's how I feel about it.

BCE and CE are now the politically correct terms. Since I am politically incorrect Before Christ and After Death are still used around here.
BTW, I am an Atheist. I just don't change for the sake of changing. This "politically correct" crap rates right up there with "SUPER DUMB".
Have a nice day.

They've recently started using BCE and CE
Before Common Era
Common Era
Same as BC and AD, just different acronyms
Here is an explanation:

BC and AD are not truely Christian, just the calendar's creator was Christian. Jesus used the Jewish Calendar. Pilate used AVC.
CE and BCE are the internationally accepted standard in English. If we're going to use LATIN, as in AD, them we should just bloody well use AVC. That date has archaelogical evidence.
(Go hit google now, kiddies. It may be (inaccurately) under AUC)
EDIT: AD does not stand for After Death. It's "The year of our lord" Anno Domani. LATIN.

The terms are now BCE and CE.. Before Common Era and Common Era. They are merely more "politically correct terms" for BC and AD, but the starting point is the same for either term.

It is time to stop shorting our reality through a religious figure called Jesus Christ.
This is the first step of freeing man from the control of religions.

you're not necessarily teaching christianity to use the apparent birth of christ as a reference point for time. so i don't think it's that inappropriate to use. it's like when someone sneezes, i say bless you, just out of habit. if i say it in a school i hope i wouldn't get sued for spreading religious beliefs that i don't have.

How sad someone would actually consider this a legitimate question
Almost as pathetic as the "Do Atheists cry out OH god during sex?" question

It's BCE and CE now.
I hope they stop cramming religion down children's throats, I think it's wrong.
