Yes, humans are animals (primates, to be exact). The difference between humans and other animals is that the brain of a human is extremely large and highly developed. Our brain mass and complexity allows humans to function on a higher level than other species.
Dogs do have vocal cords; that is how they bark. However, the brain of a dog is tiny and thus they aren't capable of forming words.

Humans are mammals and so are dogs. Dogs do have vocal cords, just not like ours. I don't know how developed a dog's brain is as far as actually speaking if they had the correct vocal equipment. I know many dogs who understand a lot of words though.

Yes, humans are animals. We are classified as the same type of mammals that roam the planet. Our cousins, the "monkeys" are closest to us in intelligence and emotions.
Dogs do have vocal cords - a lot of animals do. However, their vocal cords are different, this is why dogs bark, lions roar, pigs oink, cows moo, and humans talk. Their cords use the "talk" or "words" that are for their species - so dogs do talk, they just dont talk human - as we dont talk dog.

Are humans animals?
Here's the definition from education.yahoo.com
NOUN:
1.) A multicellular organism of the kingdom Animalia, differing from plants in certain typical characteristics such as capacity for locomotion, nonphotosynthetic metabolism, pronounced response to stimuli, restricted growth, and fixed bodily structure.
2.)An animal organism other than a human, especially a mammal.
3.)A person who behaves in a bestial or brutish manner.
A human considered with respect to his or her physical, as opposed to spiritual, nature.
My intepretation:
If all living things can be considered as animals, then a human being is an animal, a rather special kind of animal thou, due to our superior intelligence(not survival instinct) compared to the rest.
If dogs has vocals, they can tallk. I am pretty sure of that ^_^

Of course humans are animals. We're mammals.
No, your dog could not talk. I'm pretty sure that dogs already have vocal cords.

Humans are animals. Fauna as opposed to flora.
To be precises we are bipedal primates belonging to the mammalian species Homo sapiens in the family Hominidae (the great apes).
Dogs do have vocal cords, they just don't have the ability to make words, only sounds. Dogs also do not have the brain capacity to be able to talk, their brains are not developed enough.

humans are biologically no different from animals.. but the fact that we have things like laws, religions, ethics, etc separates us from the animals..
dogs could talk if they had vocal cords.. the shape of the mouth shouldn't matter.. after all, parrots can talk, and they have beaks..

there are three divisions of creation: Animal, vegetable, and mineral. Minerals are things that compose the earth and things we use, and are the basic components of the physical world. Vegetables are a life form, primitive, but necessary for animals. The Bible says "All flesh is grass" because, ultimately, all life depends on lower forms of life that subsist on grass. Animal life is at the top, and there are two divisions in that. One is basic animal life, with a life force that keeps it moving and responding to its environment. This covers everything from amoebas to gorillas and other primates. Humans are classified as animals, but in a higher category, as we have "sentient" souls, as distinguished from the basic life force of other animals. We can think, are aware of ourselves, and responsible for our actions. All other species are not repsonsible for their actions, as they tend to react according to the nature in them. Therefore, a tiger who kills a person is dangerous, but not guilty of sin, as a person is who kills another person. A tiger cannot distinguish between one source of nutrients and another. A human can tell that difference, and is guilty of murder, if he/she kills another human, but not guilty of murder if he/she takes the life of any other animal.
If my dog had vocal chords, I'd make a billion dollars, after teaching it how to use them.
