I am a guy who doesn't normally use moisturiser, but I understand that I should do in order to keep my skin healthy and young looking. However, when I try to use it on my face, my skin feels good at first, but the next day my face seems to be drier and a bit flaky. If I moisturise again, my skin seems even drier the next day. So I give up, and my skin gets back to normal What am I doing wrong? I use a brand name moisturiser. I don't get a rash or anything, so I don't feel like its an allergy.

Sounds like you need to exfoliate. Everyone should be exfoliating daily to keep those dry flakes away. Also, you might want to switch to a higher performing moisturizer. Good luck!

You are probably using the wrong moisturiser, also because its a brand name doesnt nescessarily make it good
Go and treat yourself to a facial, most decent salons have one designed for men, speak to the therapist about this problem, and take the moisturiser with you if you can
There may be something in it that doesnt agree with your skin (Lanolin is really bad....if this is in the ingrediants of anything you use then stop using it)
She will advise you on a moisturiser to suit your skin type and some salons have a return policy where if they advise you the wrong product you can go back and swap it foc
Good luck!
PS ELemis is REALLY good and they have a mens range

Using a water or alcohol based moisturizer is probably your issue. You may want to consider switching moisturizers. I know people aren't the biggest fan of the "greasy feeling" oil based moisturizers have, but they don't dry your skin out like the others. The greasy feeling usually dissipates before too long so you should definitely try a different product.

i've got been having dry pores and skin issues these days and that i became attempting to no longer wash my face regular because of the fact it dries it out much extra. i do in comparison to no longer washing my face regular, even with the incontrovertible fact that it helps to make it much less dry. i became utilising Olay Face Moisturizer and it in basic terms wasn't working, so I switched to Ponds. Its interior the bottle with the blue authentic. i in my view recommend attempting that because of the fact its made for dry pores and skin. in basic terms examine the lower back of the bottle earlier you purchase it to make certain you have the only for the face. Ponds makes my pores and skin sense somewhat soft and tender and that i do no longer would desire to reapply it and now i'm waiting to bathe my face regular. in case you do this moisturizer and it does not artwork then you could see a dermatologist approximately it. it could be achievable there is a few thing else incorrect, yet perhaps no longer.

Weird! I have the exact same problem.
It's usually worse for me in the winter months.
The best I could suggest is to not do it everyday, since it forces your skin to overcompensate for the moisture. And as someone said above... try exfoliating, Once your skin is free of dead skin, it'll handle the moisturizer better.

Sometimes what looks like dry skin is actually a buildup of dead skin cells you need to get rid of. You can exfoliate several ways...either with a gentle facial scrub, by using a washcloth (gentle circular motions) or by using a toner with salicylic or alpha hydroxy acid.

Maybe the moisturizer you are using is too strong. I am sure that someone makes a gentle moisturizer for men.
