My oldest daughter is having a baby and I have been trying to come up with another name other then to be called Grandma. If you could please give me some suggestions as to what other nicknames that are cute and that are not common. My mother-in-law is Gram to my children and my mother is Grandma so I want to have my own unique name. PLEASE HELP!

These are the only ones I've got. When I was growing, my grandparents were Grandmother and Grandad. But my kids call my parents Granny and Grammy (for their grandmothers)

Lots of other cultures Venerate the grandmother as a wise-woman & she is often given the greatest respect in old-world cultures. Two that I love are Oma & Amma.

Also, some other ones I have just heard are:
Nana, Nani, Gumma, Nanners, Anna(pronounced: Ahh-nah)

Hope these helped!

I don't have children, but I have nieces and nephews whom call my mom Nana (like Shauna, but Nana). I think it's so cute. And my dad is Papa. I have a grandmother who we call Mema and the other is Mimi! That's cute too. It's whatever you think will fit you.....for a long time. :)

My mother is nana to my son...I love it and it was her idea...it sounds so much better than grandma. My husband's mom goes by Oma...not sure why, they're not exactly German, but that's what she likes...
