Who needs to see surgeries in the making, dreaded diseases and news espousing all of their time "warning" people about colon problems, breast problems and what to do as most of the reports are usually proven wrong. Put it back in the doctors' office where it belongs.

I know what you mean. There are times I get tired of it too, especially when the reports are conflicting. On the other hand, I think some of them serve a valuable purpose. Patient education in many doctor's offices just doesn't happen. There's little time for it because doctors are so busy. Some of those programs offer valuable information for patients to ask their doctors about.

Yes and no. I love them myself. Watching surgery is fascinating to me (NOT dramas on TV...I don't watch those) and learning about medicine is too...but then again, I'm in dental school so I guess it makes sense. That aside, while general health, maint., early detection and prevention of diesease is important... I agree that if we took in all the advice these real surgery shows offer we would NEVER leave the doctor offices.
