The U.K., Australia, Canada, Japan

Edit: In crisis situations, I think you can rely on us as much as we could rely on you. Its a pretty strong alliance.

The only country that America needs to stand side by side with is -- and forever will be -- America. George Washington declared in his farewell address that it would be wrong for the US to get bogged down in the alliance system of Europe, since then the US would find itself fighting wars it didn't necessarily support for the sake of these alliances. This holds true today: Countries have their own interests, and can't be trusted to stand by us unconditionally, and we should do the same. No matter what the causes or factors, at the very end of the day, America should do what is best for America, regardless.

Response to the edit: The British have been staunch allies of the US since forever (or maybe just the mid-19th century), and the relationship has been beneficial and inspiring for both parties. My own paranoia aside, I'd rather have than the British to fight with over pretty much every other country out there.

The free peoples of the Western Nations are the strongest people in the world! We have fought the greatest of wars and have always triumphed over evil. Now the time is approaching when together we will unite the free loving nations of Earth and stand against the darkness that threatens to engulf us all. We must stay vigilant and never give in. the Politically correct would have us surrender our right to life, they would allow the Muslim insurrection to dominate us all, they would allow the masses of the Earths poor overwhelm our industrialized nations, I say we stand and fight, we go on the offensive and destroy those who would destroy us! The other civilizations want war, the Sinic (Chinese’s), Latin, Islamic, they all want War lets give it to them! The west is strong and will always remain so.

Right now the only country that has enough guts to have its prime minister stand up to illegal immigrants and invaders is Australia. Therefore I would stand with Australia. The Brits, with their distancing themselves from GWB and thinking for themselves would run a close second. But the real answer would depend on which country has proven that they could be trusted and consistent in their stands on issues.

I would trust individuals from other countries more than I would trust any country as a whole. An individual exhibits trust when he has your back and even when he disagrees with you will stand with you and will not let either side shoot, preferring instead to argue it out and settle it with diplomacy.

The definition of a friend is one who comes in when all others have gone out. The definition of a fair weather friend is one who stands with you when times are good or when the issues tend to have a favorable outcome for you but then deserts you when you're not winning. The US has been a fair weather friend far too many times to far too many countries. We can't have statements like "You're either with us or against us" and expect to have any kind of loyalty. I think Tony Blair learned that and is now struggling to regain the trust of the British people and is distancing himself from GWB.

Also, since Nancy Pelosi went to Syria -- and I don't agree that she should have gone -- she has underscored that the citizens of the USA -- over 70% of them don't favor what GWB is doing and therefore she, by her actions, took away some of Bush's power. That can't be all bad. What she did was underscore that Bush's dictatorial actions are not and will not be condoned by the American People or our Congress. That's the one good thing that came out of her visit. Maybe they'll all slow down with their blanket hatred of Americans now.

'i no that in times of trouble we british can always relie on our american cousins' - oh my aching sides. the cunts tried to bleed us dry after WW2.

And we paid our debts in full after WW2, whereas after the Seven Years War when British North America was saved from being captured from the French the yanks moaned about paying the tax bill for the permanent garrison to be stationed there, which in turn lead to the War of Independence.

Special relationship - my ****!!

I think I'm proud to have the brits as friends. Aside from this illegal war, I would love to stand by your side one day and strangle the life out of real aggressor.
All hail Brittania.

To all you people who are saying canada you are so retarted, yes canada is one of our greatest friends BUT they spend a little over 10 billion dollars on defense each year. Do you know how much we spend?...... 522 billion a year. If we were ever to need allies, we would definetly need EU3, to all of my fellow americans who most likely dont know who EU3 are, thats the UK, France, and Germany, we definetly would need russia or china, because them together paired against us wouldnt be pretty. And thats just about it, everyone else, ya it would be great to have them on board but they really probably shouldnt get themselves involved, nobody likes war.....

I have 2 answers....Countries I would, countries I would like to have on my side.

Would... U.K., Israel, Canada, Japan, Australia, Mexico

Would like to have on my side... The above mentioned. Add India, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Russia, China

My list are based on several issues...the would list... would be without question. I could add several other countries to that list if certian criteria where met.

The "Like to have on my side list" for obvious reasons. I would like to say I would stand beside those countries under any circumstance. But, current political struggles going on within that region make it difficult at this time.

FOR THOSE of you who think that standing beside Mexico is a bad idea...Weigh the options, Immigrate vs Invasion from a hostile neighbor.

I agree that in times of crisis, America´s most faithful ally is the UK and vice versa. Our 2 countries have what is called a "special relationship" that has endured for many years and will hopefully continue to do so in the future.
