I do; it is actually interesting to go to ----- like watching one of Shakespeare's tragedies, or watching Brian's Song (the original).

Oh, I go by myself.
And the "ordinary mass" bores me to tears, as does the 3 hour long Easter mass.
I'm a fan of theater, though, and the Good Friday mass is kind of like a poorly-acted play.

I think you are referring to Stations of the Cross. It is not a Mass.
Yes I am nitpicking.

Ah well. Good Catholics will know you're telling stories because there is no mass on Good Friday.
There are offices of the breviary. Stations of the Cross. Prayer. Confessions. But no mass. The consecrated host is removed Thursday night and does not return until the Ressurection.
Please do not make jokes about those who willingly gave their lives so we might have religious freedom.
One of the most famous of those being Edmund Campion. A learned man (and priest ) whom any Atheist can respect.
If it had been revealed that Shakespeare was a Catholic he would have been put to death.
Under the reign of Elizabeth I, anyone refusing to join her specific brand of faith, was committing treason. Their lands and holdings would be taken. They could be imprisoned, and even killed. Anyone caught hearing mass or hiding a priest was in BIG trouble.
Catholics were dragged through the streets naked. Hung on the Tyburn Tree until unconscious. Then cut down and strapped to a table where they would be drawn and quartered. That is to say, cut from throat to pelvis, then across the belly.
Their entrails would be pulled out and tossed into a boiling cauldron. Lastly their heart.
A "good" executioner could keep a man or woman alive until the removal of the heart.
They they would be dismembered. Head, arms and legs cut off and boiled. Then put up around town as an "example."

I am an Atheist who used to go to Good Friday Mass at Catholic Church every year simply because I was raised Catholic. I continued to go during school age obviously because I was living with my parents. I have actually not been back to any mass since living on my own at all, but it does seem like it would be an interesting thing to do now that I am old enough to understand and look at it from a different point of view. The only thing is, I can't take all of that repetative standing and kneeling...

I'm an atheist and go to Mass with my Catholic girlfriend every time she asks me if I want to. I try to keep it totally positive and enjoy what I can from the experience, and do. She loves that I can share this with her and I love that she loves that.
I do know, though, that there is no Mass on Good Friday.

I'm going to the Living Stations of the Cross at our parish this evening. The 8th grade class puts it on - it's kind of tough to get them to sign waivers allowing them to be scourged and crucified, but it's all for a good cause, eh?

I prefer Christmas mass. Usually I go with one or two of my christian friends. It is an interesting ritual. A little on the long side, though.

Why would a person refer to the day someone was supposed to be killed, crucified as "Good Friday" and say nothing about the day he ascended to heaven "the Lord's day"
These are deceptions and you believe them.
