why are so many cons depressed abou the fact that war with iran has been averted...

It may be made to make both sides looks fine, but What can we expect from a near future? We have now a humanitarian Iran and a thanked UK, I think that's not formula I would drink that easily. Through out the history in every and each war propaganda had played an important roll and I don't think this's the exception.

Why do you think the Sailors where "voluntarily" criticizing the British & US involvement in Iraq? I would also suggest that Iran specifically targetted the 4 UK soldiers who where killed today just to further advance British public sentiment against the war.
Iran is the head of the snake in the war on terror.

I think Iran seized those sailors b/c they thought "a-ha, we've caught British spies in the act! Wait till we tell the world." only when they found that their was no surveillance equipment on the boats they realized 'oops' and so this the best way they could come up with to drop a hot potato.

and a good one, I might add. I do not suppose you think Iran wanted to go to war over this? They
- got their diplomat from Iraq
- made a point on international arena
- made some money over the spiked price of oil
- showed that Muslims do not hate to death Christians by releasing them on Easter
- had a control confrontation with US (e.g. via its allay)
To be honest I believe more Iran on this then UK. Why would not Cornwall , which was 8 miles away, go after Iranians? Maybe because they WERE in Iranian waters. It is not a fact but ...
