I am wondering if anyone here uses visual cues with your child? and if so do you have a website that you get them from, do you make your own? etc? We are new to this, and I really need the help.
Thanks

oh and looking for ones like, using the bathroom, brushing teeth, getting dressed etc.

At a preschool I used to work at, we used this for ALL the children....on the shelves, we put both a picture AND word of what went there (dinosaurs, put a picture of a dino and the word)

Also, I wasn't there when they did it, but they had someone take pictures of all the activities they did in a day, while they were in "circle time" they had someone take a picture of all the kids sitting in their spots, at lunch, they had a picture of them eating lunch...

You could take a picture of the child doing his daily routine (waking, bathroom time *brushing teeth*, eating, playing, nap, lunch, etc) then put them on a timeline for him/her. Once he get's the idea, then put velcro strips on the back of the pictures and on a poster board, and let him/her put them on the timeline poster as he/she does them, teaching him that there is an order for everything, and everything he or she does has a specific time frame....

HTH! Good luck!

ETA: If you are looking for pictures, try looking in magazines or old childrens books from yard sales that you can cut up!

I would look online or make your own. If you draw them youself I would make them simple drawings showing what you want your child to do. No background pictures. You can stick pictures of what clothes are in what drawers on the front of the drawer.

you could take pics of different things and put them on a board or in a folder with the name of the activity underneath. or there may be flash cards available.if your school dist. has a sp.ed. program, you can get info from them on where to find such things. there are cataloges available and the schools usually have them. good luck
