I have medium/dark brown hair and I'd like to dye it black. However, I want it to be very temporary. I've heard mixed reviews, people saying that the dark hair wont take the color well and it will wash out fast, and conversely that because the hair is so dark it wont wash out. Can anyone shed some light on the subject? And perhaps recommend a brand?

Read the box- there are lots of brands that offer temp dye jobs.

If you have dark hair to start off with, it'll wash out quickly.

I have neer found a black temporary dye that was actually temporary.

Depending on how dark your dark brown hair is, you can leave the black dye on for less time and it won't be as dark. It also won't show as much as it grows out.

If you use shampoo on it right away also, you will wash some more of the color out.

I use the Garnier Nutrisse blue-black on my light-brown hair and if I leave it on for 10-15 minutes instead of 20 minutes, then it gets the blue and a lot of the black but it fades a bit more easily.

Jet black hair. I have actually dark brown hair and I consider dark hair looks better. I don't really like blonde hair.

how fast are we talking? yes, your hair will take the color, and it will wash out in approx a month, but remember it will wash out starting from the top and working its way down, not all at once. that's hair dye and the boxes at the store, if you do it yourself, usually say approx how long it's supposed to last. there might be even more temporary things, like gels or mousses. ask a salon. also i know that there are things almost like spray paint that people use at Halloween; very messy, but washes right out!

If you dye it with henna, make sure you will NEVER use another hair dye product. If you decide you don't like the result, and you use another dye, it will absolutely ruin your hair. If you don't want the henna in your hair anymore you will have to shave it off.

If you dye your hair black it will stay permanently and if you ever want your hair lighter it will be VERY hard to lighten it becuase black is such a harsh color. I would say dye your hair the darkest brown and you will hardly be able to tell that it isn't black. And you could still lighten it later with much more ease.

I don't know of a brand that will wash out fast. Dark hair will take black coloring well, it's just harder to noctice it than in light hair. It will have to grow out unless you find one that is very temoprary

It really depends on how well your hair takes the color. And I would recommend going to a stylist if you really want it to be out soon. But even stylists don't know exactly how well your hair willl take the color. Depends on a lot of things. Well good luck. Sorry this isn't that definite of an answer. Its just that there isn't really a good answer cuz it all deends. good luck!

if you dye it black more than once it will stay that color because the pigments are so dark.
