Health reasons, if there's blood, or a lot of undigested food, or if it has a weird color, there might be something wrong. You don't have to check every time or in great detail, but glancing back regularly is a good idea.
Also after you flush, check if it's clean, that's common courtesy to the next person!

Although looking at *HIT is not very appealing, you should always look to see what comes out of your body. You may not feel pain, but if there is ever blood or mucus in you stool it could be a dangerous thing.

It's just good manners to check the bowl is clean before you leave a toilet.
Oh! You mean why do you look before you flush?
Basic health care instinct - if it looks weird, there's probably something wrong.

I think firstly its a basic human curiosity, to see what comes out of our bodies.
But mostly to see that there is nothing abnormal about it like any blood etc
