I've seen that. I am a Christian. I don't like what I see. If I look into the Bible, the Spirit of God was picking people up. I think that those people are acting. They are embarrassing to watch.

Hi, I'm Christian, and I gotta tell ya -
Those sideshows are just that; sideshows.
If you look at Biblical accounts of healings by Christ and/or by His Apostles, you won't find them falling over backwards needing someone to catch them from falling.
Personally, I think its either a blatant fake, or else the people going for the healing are just so psychologically high from the experience, and want so badly to feel better, that they actually do feel better.
Does this mean I think people can't be
healed? No, I believe Gods power can work the same today as it did when Jesus was here among us, but what i've seen on the Benny Hinn show is absolutely pompus.
If Benny could actually heal, and if these
healings were actually substantiated, then they would be parading him thru every Aids center and Cancer center in the World;
we would be shutting down entire medical centers. Quess what: we aren't, and he isn't.
Be very careful about who you support and where you send your hard-earned dollars;
For every true man of God, there are a hundred fakes.

Good question!
I have given this question much thought over the past few years.

I went to a large Faith Healing Service at the request of my Mother... her son, my brother had a brain tumor. We were desperately seeking a healing, my brother was only 52.
He had already had one brain surgery and now he needed another operation. I have seen this phenomenon where they fall back and lay on the ground... all of them do.

I was standing with my brother as he needed to be accompanied because he at times stumbled over his feet. I was careful to help him so he would not fall... banging his head could greatly harm him. Ushers came to us and directed us up the front, ahead of the rest who were lining up for a healing so on this evening we were first.

I said to the minister when we got onto the stage, that my brother COULD NOT fall down. He did his prayers and pocked at my brother in an attempt to make him fall backwards. I reminded the Minister that he should not fall... however, annoyed with me for interuppting he tried several more times. Big Brother resisted and remained standing.

We remained in the congregation while the healing service continued and every single participant, willingly fell backwards. I watched in awe, wondering if it was possible all these people believed that the act of willingly falling at the mere touch of the Minister was an indication they were touched by a Higher Power. Everyone was desperately seeking a healing... Would not falling back make them wonder about their worthiness?

My opinion is that they fall because they expect this to happen from witnessing past experiences, and would feel let down if they didn't. I also believe that any theatrics are coming from the organisers of these events not the congregation.

My brother was not healed.

It's called "slain in the Spirit" and it did happen in the New Testament as well as the Old. When Paul encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus, his men were all slain in the Spirit.
When God touches someone with His healing power, they're being touched with the same power that created the universe and everything in it. Everyone in the Bible who had a close encounter with God was affected in some way. Read the Bible.

They do not fall over after a healing - it is during. It is because they are being hypnotized. A technique of hypnosis is to make a loud noise and push the person rapidly to the floor. Check it out, look at a site about hypnosis.

So the person is hypnotized - and then told that they are 'HEALLLLLED', mm there you are Its not the word of god but simple hypnotherapy. Are but has this person been trained in the safety elements needed when dealing with the problems they calm to cure. NO! ho!

Katherine Kuhlman used to rent wheelchairs and place those with bad backs on them. When they went up to the alter and got their healin' the congregations would be "wowed" by the illusion of a miracle. Most people with bad backs CAN walk. They fall back because they think they are supposed to. See the film, Borat, for the section on the Assembly of God for a real freak show. http://www.spiritualabuse.org/issues/borat.html

I think most times it's a case of "monkey see, monkey do."

Sometimes the healer actually "leads" someone to "fall down." That is to say, gently pushes them over. As a way to "prove" the Holy Spirit has come.

I do believe in healing pray. I've seen it work.

But not everyone needs to fall over, or convulse, or "pass out."

It's referred to as being "slain in the spirit."

Let me first clarify: I do believe spiritual gifts and acts of the Spirit are apparant in today's Church.

But I think all of this falling down, laughing, crying, and whatnot is just silliness from earnest people who get just a bit carried away.

Theatrics. Watching too many bad movies.

They think we're impressed at how powerful their faith is, that it can actually cause them to fall over, apparently not realizing that I can get the same effect without faith, using just a plain ordinary bottle of rum.
