Some Christians would be fine; others would try, misguidedly, to "cure" them somehow, possibly by threatening them with hell.

I have wondered this many times. I have two childrend ages 4 and 6. I love them more than anything in this world. I can't imagine them ever doing anything that would make me not love them or treat them the way I do today. If one of my children were gay. . .I would love them the same as I do today.
I am a Christian, I am not homosexual, but that is me. I don't feel like I can pass my beliefs onto other people. I can tell you what I believe, how I feel and how I choose to live my life. . .but I can't expect someone to have the same morals as me if we don't share the same beliefs.

I've answered this question or ones similar to it on the LGBT section.
I would try to let my child know that God is more important, and that being homosexual doesn't mean that God isn't going to love them. It is more likely that God would use them as a witness to the Gospel message to those who are constantly bashed by the fundie movement. You know, the one's who lambaste verbally homosexuals and anyone who goes against the supposed Christian "clean" lifestyle.
]
Contrary to the Fred Phelp's types, God loves homosexuals. And He doesn't send people out to the funerals of soldiers with signs condemning people.
God loves those who trust Him. It's the basic theme throughout the Bible. It remains the theme with what Jesus said.

I have thought about this, just because it seems to be so prevelant today; where people identify themselves with their sexual orientation. Interestingly you don't see alot of heterosexuals saying "I'm straight...etc"
If I had a child who identified him/herself as 'gay' I'd certainly accept them. I'd have no choice however to at least support the Catholic position and say you may have these thoughts, desires but you may not act on them. After that, love them to pieces because they won't find alot in the everyday world. Home should a safe haven from the storms of life.

Parents love and accept their children regardless of their preferences. BTW Christians are supposed to love and accept everyone period. Anyone who doesn't shouldn't call themself a Christian. "Hate the sin not the sinner"....

Recognize that it isn't your gay child, they are your child- plain and simple. And you are to love and support them. everything else is just parts of them not just who they are as a whole.

To treat my kids with any less love would be against the love that Jesus taught.

I would love them because they were my child. As long as they continued to be themselves, I wouldn't treat them any differently. My best friend growing up is gay, and before he came out to his friends he was just Eric. After he came out, he started talking with a lisp and trying to be all eccentric. That's not who he was...it's who he thought he should be. I would encourage my child to be true to him/herself.

If I were a christian and had a gay child, I would most certainly have them put to death. Their blood is own their own heads.
So say'th Leviticus 20:13
Who would I be to argue.
