Does the Old Testament apply or not in your religion? Or, does it only apply when you want to say that Homosexuality is a sin?

Dear David, Did Jesus ever condemn homosexualilty? (If you quote what Paul said about what Jesus thought, I am going to vomint. Paul never new any of Jesus instructions. Proof: The gospels were not written until after Paul was dead. He just made up easy ways of joining his empire.

Dear "tebone" - read reverends comment, and then tell us (have you been circumcised for religious purposes, Paul said you didn't have to do that, but it is in the Old Testament (equality my dear, if men must, women must) --

Dear "karen" rightly divided ? That sounds like a karish or Jones or egotistical Preacher's answers. God needs a new car, and he wants me to drive it -- so give me your dough.

Dear "kev" - You are in big trouble. God sent Jesus with instructions, but you chose to believe Paul. - So you are in trouble with God.

Then you misquoted Paul (he never said "Homosexual") - now you are in trouble with Paul.

But, I forgive you for your ignorance, cause I have read the instruction of Jesus. Jesus said, "If you do not forgive others, your father in Heaven will not forgive you." -- smiles

I will tell you this, gay bashing and spreading any form of hatred in the name of Christ is not at all Biblically based unless following the example of Lucifer is a Biblically based thing to do. It was Lucifer that sought to claim God's authority for himself. I won't dare to say who God can Love or speak to. In the Lord's Prayer Jesus makes it plain that we are to forgive those who trespass us as we ask God to forgive us. How much more then are we required to forgive people who have done absolutely nothing to us?

You want it from the New Testament? Here it is .....

1 Corinthians 6:9 - 10 "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters not adulterers nor male prostitutes (homosexual activity within the temples) nor homosexual offenders (speaking of the act as well as the person) nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. ....."

(Parentheses added by myself for clarification of terms.)

It is a bit like the police officer who lets one speed violator go by ... but chooses to stop another. The law is still the law and is in effect for all. The enforcer of that law has to make a choice at a given time.

Sometimes it is enough to just know what the law is. Sometimes it isn't. You would seem to be one for which just knowing the regulation is just not enough.

The best answer seems to be that I do believe homosexuality was again blasted in the New Testament, where other silly rules like mixing materials, getting a shave and a haircut, etc. were not, so it is assumed that those were "fulfilled" by Jesus, while being gay will never get you "filled" by Jesus.

Little pun there for ya.

Now this is of course back when it wasn't recognized that being gay wasn't a choice, and it's sad that despite all the education out there some people think that it isn't a choice (mainly the gay people saying it isn't should be a tip off).

But yet Christians can't believe that their God would make gay people, which leads them to say He just creates gay people to test their faith in God.

Ummmmmm, can we stop following the Bible yet, or should we continue to treat gays as second class citizens?

The Old Law was replaced by the New Covenant (Jesus). It applies in the fact that it is historical, much in the same way the original constitution of the United States has been amended.

There were no 'Christians' in the Old Testament.

Why do people only pick and choose the parts of the bible that they feel are the most controversial?

The whole bible applies, to our lives. If I don't understand something that is written, I have to have the faith to know that while I may need to do more research, and pray for greater understanding, it is all God inspired.

The old testament is fulfilled, but still has foundational teachings, that can apply to our lives today, if we look at what it means to each of us. Sin doesn't change, history is repeated over and over. So why can't we understand to apply the lessons taught back then.

It also applies when they push for a literal translation of Genesis in the school system, but it doesn't apply when you get to the parts about genocide or stoning your children to death, etc.

Of course, when I made a reference to the talking donkey in Numbers the other day, 99% of the Christians on the board had no idea what I was talking about; so it is obviously they lack in Biblical knowledge.

I'm Happy for the Christians/Muslims to do and say what they will, as long as they do not try to make the rest of the world follow their myths. That does include the cessation of persicution and murdering of people just trying to help other.

Jesus said that he didn't come to change the law(OT) but to give it meaning. OT as important if not more important in some ways than NT and yes, we do read it.

I agree. I want to go up to the preachers that bash gays as they are eating ham for sunday dinner and tell them that they are sinning too. WHen they tell me that those laws are obsolete, I want to ask why the part about homosexuality is any different....

GAH! I hate Churches!
