Oil supplies are growing less rapidly than demand from countries now getting a lot of cars, like China and India. Gas will steadily get more expensive.
It won't run out, but driving will get very expensive and we'll be forced to develop cars that use something else.
If you really want to know what's up, this is a great book:

It won't run out for a thousand years. Beyond that I wouldn't say that it would still be easy to recover but there would still be oil. I remember former president Jimmy Carter said that we would run out in 10 years and that was 30 years ago. They have been predicting the end of oil since the 1800s

Oil production peaked in 1998 (I think) and the world's known reserves have been dwindling ever since. There are vast amounts of oil trapped in oil shales, but current technology doesn't allow for recovery of these oils. As the price of oil increases, new and innovative technology might be developed and many new reserves will exist. "Boys and girls, can you spell $20 per gallon of gas?"

No we are not ,the same process that recycles our air and the plants remove the CO2 from the air is the beginning of our fossil fuel recycling. Mother nature may hide it different ,but I am sure we will be able to find it. The plants hold on to the C and there leaves fall off and float down the river to the delta where it will deteriorate into gas ,oil , and after a long time oil will turn to coal.
