Before people start thinking that the police don't want, or are unwilling to do their jobs , we all need to remember a few things. To ask someone his alien status is "unconstitutional". Granted, I don't understand how someone in the country illegally has the protections of the Constitution. The police get incredibly frustrated when they can't do anything about it but their hands are tied by our own government. Also, just because someone has had their license suspended, for whatever reason, that doesn't stop some from driving. They're driving illegally but they're still driving. A suspended Driver's license is nothing more than a piece of paper....and I've never seen a piece of paper strong enough to stop a person. Too many people are quick to blame the police when things don't go right, or quick to place blame when all the facts aren't in.

This was one of the comments about that article,it says it all it seems.

Just another example of "look the other way" policies and "not my job" mentality. The end result is people are dead because no one bothered to ask the obvious for fear of depriving someone of rights that they don't have.
The constitution was written by some "common sense" kind of guys but in recent years the COMMUNISTS from the ACLU have pushed their perverted views on the American people to the point that only criminal aliens seem to have rights.
I just love the people that actually defend these acts by stating American citizens commit crimes too. Somehow in their perverted logic it makes crimes committed by illegal invaders ok and if you bring it up you are racist.
The fact that they SHOULD NOT BE HERE and if they weren't the people would still be alive somehow escapes them. Obviously those with that argument are NOT THE SHARPEST TOOLS in the shed.
We need to put some common sense back in our laws. How is it a police officer can search your car but can't ask you your immigration status? I think that if you DON'T speak English or speak broken English that is probable cause to look further and inquire as to immigration status.
Stop with the political correctness and start saving lives. Enforce the law.

My comment would have to be the obvious thought that must cross most people's minds:

If this man had been deported when he had contact with law enforcement the first time, he would not have been here to drive under the influence and murder these two teens.

ALIAS: It's not racist to want our laws followed. It's not racist to think of what could have been done to prevent this. Of course this story does not mean that all illegal aliens are drunk drivers, but it does mean that all illegal aliens are law breakers and when they don't obey our immigration laws, how likely are they to obey other laws that protect the lives and liberty of citizens and legal residents?

i would think the police has a right to ask what they need to ask to find out about a person. if this would have been handled right the first time he would not have been on the streets to kill those two girls, who will never have children. who's parents will grieve the rest of their lives. it's not right to allow these people to stay here while illegal. now we the tax payers have to pay to house and feed him. we need our borders fenced up and guarded to keep all illegals from coming in or reentering. it's just not right to us Americans.

It seems to me that when a person is arrested it would be a simple matter to check immigration status. Isn't social security number one of the questions that they ask? What about fingerprints that are then sent to the NCIC database? It seems crazy that we are allowing illegals to be processed through the court system and not deported.

ALL arrests should contain an investigation as to the citizen/alien status of the arrested. illegals should be deported upon release from prison (at hard labor, if convicted) or upon aquittal

Do you guys have nothing better to do but look online ALL DAY to find stories about an illegal that did something bad so that you can talk crap?

If I were your boss, i'd fire you for being racist.

ANYONE of ANY race is capable of committing horrific crimes. I read about a man with tons of child pornography that lived in the Santa Cruz, CA mountains, and guess what?
He was WHITE!! Does that mean that all WHITE MALES are sick f--s?
NO it doesn't!
