Note: very tricky(find for urselves)
Here goes:
u are on a dep. store with 3 friends. u saw a beautiful dress. u guess that its worth $30. u realize that u have no money in pocket. u ask $10 from each of ur friends. when uve bought the dress, it just cost $25. so yo have change worth $5. to lessen ur debt you gave each of ur friends $1. so $5 - $3 = $2.

so now, u owe them $9 each. $9 * 3 = $27 + ur $2 on hand.
that sums up a total of $29. Where is that $1??!?!?!?!?

you are double counting....each man has paid 9$ to make 27$ they have also paid 3$ to total 30$ the other way to count it is you have 2$ left and each man has paid 9.33$, when you combine the two types of counting like you did thats when the mistake occurs...it is just a counting trick

You are adding the $2 left over twice to get to $29.

Here is a different way to see the same transaction.

You borrow $30, dress costs $25, you have $5 left over

$30(borrowed) = $25(price) + 5(change)

that will be $30 = $30

You now payback 3 dollars from the change. This gives.

$27(borrowed) = $25(price) + 2(change)

that will be $27 = $27. This is balanced and no dollar is missing.

What you are doing in the original statement is adding the $2 to what you have and adding $3 to what is owed. However, that is poor accounting. Those amounts are already in the equation if you carefully follow the transaction. The goal is to show the final amount owed and not show that both sides have $30.

You get $10 X 3 = $30
Spend $25 = - $25
leaves = $ 5

You give $1 X 3 = -$3
You have left = $2

The amount you borrowed was $30, you returned $3 so you owe $27

You have $ 2 and you need to replace the $25 the dress cost

So $ 2
+ $25
= $27

Where do you get a missing dollar from?

1.) 8/4 = 2 2.) Penalty 3.) Prospal? His point total is a prime number like Datsyuk and Cooke. 4.) 20 (assuming 66 counts as two 6's) 5.) Mike Johnson - he shoots right...And he was never drafted.

sigh... how many times are people going to repost this one!!

so 30-25 = 5 dollars change. 5-3 to each friend= 2 in your pocket so there is no missing dollar. only people trying to confuse us by throwing in multiplication

That's a unique riddle bc if u work backwards the total comes out to $30, but if u start at the beginning it comes to $29.

You take the 27 you owe them, add the 3 you already gave them, there's 30.
