I just read this an few minutes ago on yahoo.:
SAN FRANCISCO/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Technology companies may face a shortage of skilled workers later this year after U.S. immigration services reached its annual quota for visa applications in one day. :
If these immigrants, as George Bush would have us believe, are only doing the jobs that American citizens won't do what the heck is this? Technical jobs are being given to immigrants, In this case legal ones, and not American citizens. You can't tell me there are no native born citizens who might want some of these jobs that are being given to Immigrants. I also read that they say if it weren't for the immigrants "Filling the void" our cities would be getting smaller because Americans are moving away from them. They don't state why this is happening but I can tell you. Citizens are trying to get away from the immigrants. If the immigrants stayed in there own country US citizens would probably stay in the cities. What do you think?

I think I'm glad you're not a business consultant. It so happens that there are NOT enough US citizens with the needed skills to fill all the high-tech jobs available in this country. H e l l, there aren't even enough native-born and trained doctors and nurses to fill all THOSE jobs in this country! My hospital - a major employer in a mid-sized city in upstate New York - has had to hire immigrants to combat a serious nursing shortage that's been a problem for us since the 1970s!!! Fortunately, I find these men and women to be highly trained, skilled and motivated! I've been a nursing supervisor for decades now - and I'll tell you right up front: given the quality of the applicants for our available jobs, I'd rather hire a nurse right out of the Philippines instead of a graduate nurse from right here in the U.S. I KNOW the foreign-trained nurse is gonna work his or her tail off - whereas a domestically-trained nurse is just as likely not to last one DAY on the job!
My wife is in management at a major manufacturer here. She and the owner see high school graduates applying for work who don't know how to use a f u c k i n g carpenter's tape measure, for god sake! They friggin' can't read simple instructions on how to operate a d a m n power drill or hand saw...and they can't understand why they're expected to show up for work ON TIME and not f u c k i n g down tools and stand there for half an hour yakking on a cell phone any time their puny brains think of it!
Look, bud: the immigrants will DO the JOB! Unless you can figure out a way to convince your fellow citizens to get off their stupid butts and produce, I don't want to hear one word out of you about immigrants 'cause you don't know what the f u c k you're talking about!

I think you are an angry man...My god they are legal immigrants getting those jobs, not the illegal ones that the debate is supposed to be about. They did everything they were supposed to do to come to this country....and umm I think you are taking from the stories what you want...if companies are going to have a shortage of workers, that means that us non immigrant Americans aren't applying for those jobs, if we were there would be no shortage...And about the immigrants filling the void in major cities...people aren't necessarily leaving the big cities just because immigrants are there. Its also busy, built up, and the suburbs are a little more peaceful. you can get a house with a yard, your white picket fence and borrow sugar from your neighbor. That is just not what you can get in big cities like Boston or NYC....

I found that corporations got together and hold our pay so low that few Americans want certain jobs. Sometime they wouldn't even advertise openings. THey go to the government demanding immigrants to fill them, because they couldn't hire citizens. THat way they keep their expenses low. If there is a shortage, they should hire the old fashion way and increase the salaries. People would start training for these jobs to fill the vacancies. I see in the medical field that we hire a lot from the Philipines. Its well known that many Philipinos buy their colleges degrees and cheat on the board exams to get jobs in America. THe Nurses are currently banned because, it was found that there was institutionalized cheating for some important exam. Not only th immigration policy reduces pay for Americans, but there is a lack of assurance of quality in the immigrant labor force. THe news also found that many engineers from India comes from questionable colleges.

A number of technology jobs are filled by H1-B Visa carrying immigrants, and a high number of these come from India. Apparently the IT sector is in dire need of more people who can keep the servers and networks of companies running. In truth, though, I wouldn't be surprised if those countries aren't bringing in people from other countries to work for less than what the average American would, thereby denying Americans access to these tech jobs.

Not all of us can or want to be rocket scientists. Does that mean we don't deserve jobs in our own country? And you are seriously deluded about the limitations on job choices and pay for illegal aliens. They work for the schools, the government, airports, etc. And have hiring priority at factory jobs that still pay better than many places, even though illegals have lowered wages. Factor in all the government 'help' for their large families, and they have it made in the shade. Wake the hell up!!!

LOL Excuse me do you know any Native Americans not caucatians Native [Indians] you white people killed most and have no respect for the ones that are left.

Why do immigrants get the "Amrican Jobs" My dad was an immigrant who indeed became a Mechanic with no high school diploma infact he only went to elementry in his native country Mexico. And this is why Immigrants come to this country to prosper while all you "Americans" just want to sit on your *** and get a raise for doing so while Immigrants are people who want more better without it being handed to them.

I was raised with this idea we have never depended on the goverment for anything we have paid the hospitals bill when we go we dont rely in your corrupt health system i payd the full tuition in school why because my dad at the time made too much money according to California's school system.

Get your lazzy *** welfer relying *** stupid *** ignorant *** self off ur fu55cken chair go look for a Real Job as a janitor or working in a factory or cleaning the streets or picking fruit that you fuc5ken put in that discusting racist mouth of yours and then talk. Its not the Immigrant's fault theres so many jobs out there and citizens getting welfare. We pay your welfare we feed you because oh guess what immigrants pay taxes too and if anything when it comes to tax season they dont return all they money you've earned with hard work to those with no legit social security, guess where all that money goes to your fuc5ken mouth

HE WHO HAS NOT SINNED SHALL THROW THE FIRST ROCK YOU STOLE NATIVE LAND HAHAHHAHAHAHH THAT MAKES YOU A MILLION TIMES WORSE THAN ANY IMMIGRANT WHO IS COMING TO THIS COUNTRY TO HAVE A BETTER LIFE THAN THAT THAT HE HAD IN HIS COUNTRY

Traditionally, immigrants to this country were not well educated in the book learning due to privations in their native land. Due to this and the opportunities that exist in this country, they came to America to offer themselves and their children a better chance at a real future.

These days, immigrants are as likely to be doctors of medicine and they are gardeners. With recent spikes in technological opportunity in countries like Mexico, India and in the Asian markets, the rate of immigrant with skills has risen dramatically.

The United States has the highest drop out rate of any industrialized nation. We have the highest teen pregnancy rate of any industrialized nation. Our baby boomers are aging into retirement and the skill level for technology is dropping as more people are preferring to wait until later in life to 'find themselves' in the job market.

All of these create the mitigating factors that increase the immigrant worker population in the technology sector in the U.S.

The unions have also contributed greatly to the number of American jobs leaving our nation. Worker demands through union representation have risen to an all time high. No longer do people expect a fair days pay for a fair days work. The workers expect to receive health, dental, and other benefits, cash bonuses or other incentives to keep them "productive" and the immigrant class of worker expects none of the above.

So, the immigrants can cost the worker less, generally have less absenteeism because they HAVE to work to support those family members in this country and those whom they left back home, and are willing to start at ground level and work their way up.

Pride, laziness and greed have hurt the U.S. worker. An example: a woman was asking my father (a retired personnel manager) for help in updating her resume and finding employment.

He did all that he could to help her including giving her about 5 really good job leads and she told him point blank that "none of them are suitable to someone of my education".

She is still unemployed BY CHOICE rather than taking an entry level or mid level position!!

And, for the record, two nice men and three ladies who are immigrants were more than happy to take those jobs even though they were highly educated and trained. There attitude is "better to have some money coming in while I keep looking than no money at all."

Pride has always gone before a fall....

Incidentally, your racist rant against the immigrants is NOT APPROPRIATE! !

Unless our nation creates a blanket policy to shut the borders completely, the immigrants have every right to come here seeking better opportunity.

It's not necessarily the American citizens don't want these jobs. They can just offer them to immigrants for a lot less pay.

I think you are a perfect example of a xenophobic person. usually people are ranting about ILLEGAL immigrants, and how they're uneducated, they bring your standard of living down, blah blah blah... but you just have a problem with ALL immigrants it seems. So is this it- does the USA just want to close its borders to everyone? prohibit legal immigration completely? good luck with that one- i doubt your government, even with George Bush's "unique" view of the world (to be polite) is going to support such a narrow-minded, backwards idea... i think even he understands that this comes with the territory- powerful nations attract people from all over, and you know what, it's in your benefit- i bet even "dubya" will agree.... it's the 21st century... we've gone past the attitudes of the 1800's... you may just have to stop the whining, and catch up.
