You have to stop, and want to, but it"s very dangerous to do that, unless you are in rehab, or somewhere to help you.
Withdrawal symptoms can be very dangerous, you want to stop! Get in a rehab place for at least 3 weeks.
Just do it! I'm still in that awful drink& alprozolam, but it's too late for me to stop, there is no point, I've got an illness that's incurable.
Please stop, don't think 'Ill do it tomorrow', cause tomorrw will be too late.
All the best, mate, stop while you can, but you need medical supervision.

Good luck! Stick it out...it's worth it.
I stopped heavy drinking about 10 years ago, and now, hardly even drink socially. I find that I prefer clarity to inebriation. I too was taking Diazepam (Valium) and Alprazolam (Xanax) regularly, to overcome sleep disorder, but became dependent on them too.
I gave them up about 5 years ago now and it's really much better for me without them. Hopefully you may find the same too.
Anyway, you'll get over the hardship eventually, and then it will be much better. Just hang in and stick it out.
Good luck!

The withdrawal symptoms from diazepam is similar to the withdrawal from other sleeping aids and tranquillisers and alcohol for that matter. Here is a list of withdrawal symptoms from benzodiazepines http://www.bcnc.org.uk/symptoms.html
Here is an online support group for coming off drugs such as diazepam http://www.non-benzodiazepines.org.uk

Did you give them both up or just one? Because you need to stop drinking and using the Valium. You should get your doctors help this time. Stopping that drug and alcohol can cause seizures without medical help. You were very lucky last time. Also, to stay off, you should go to AA. I'm telling you....you like the way you felt off that crap? They will help you stay off of it. They'll teach you new ways to handle your emotions without having to use drugs and booze.

I think I would reccomend going to rehab, so they can give you something. The detox from alcohol is bad enough without the valium. Get some help.

its like any addiction, giving up is a nightmare, or it can be. i remeber the paranoia... heart stopping at times, and more n a little scary... it came and went in waves... knee bucking panic attacts... which is very dodgy when youve got one leg...
i think i got fed up aof watchinhg my kids getting older and dribbling in the corner (metaphorically) but i didnt stop, i cut down, it took months... then one day i relaised i hadnt had any for three weeks... that was from 1983 to 88... and then maybe another 2yrs before i stopped...
good luck, the bad times pass, they pass quicker if your busy, instead of daydreaming.... and unnoccupied
