my friend has this disease but he doesnt want to tell me what kind of disease he's suffering ryt now. all i need to know is... will he survive from operation?? is there any possibility that he'll be well again?..

The lay term of "holes in the lungs" means a pneumothorax. You have probably heard it referred to as a collapsed lung. It could be related to his heavy drinking but it could also be related to other things.

What kind of operation is he having done? For a pneumothorax, they usually insert chest tubes immediately in the E.R. because it is life threatening to have a collapsed lung. He should have undergone that right away and survival rate is very high.

If he is having another operation, I would need to know what it is in order to give you an idea on his chances of being well again. Either way, he needs to seriously consider giving up drinking because it will continue to take a toll on his body and will eventually kill him. If he doesn't give up drinking, he will never be well again.
