even though people say its not how long you've been with someone, it's what you have accomplished together and your experiences time can tell you a lot that you sometimes can't find out simply by what you've done together. Moderation is the key. Marry him/her when you have no doubt that its the best decision you could make. Otherwise... just wait.

Engagement isn't marriage. A few of my friends never got engaged before getting married. I think it matters how long you knew the person being getting involved. If you've only known and dated the person a year and a half, it might be a good idea to wait a little longer. But if you knew the person before you were romantically involved and feel as if you have a good understanding of them, there's no need for a lengthy engagement.
My parents never got engaged. They met, kept acquaintance ( I can't even say dated because they only talked on the phone and saw each other in passing to and from church), and got married all within 9 months. They were married 9yrs before he passed away.

Not it's not too soon. A year and a half is actually a reasonable amount of time. I got engaged after about a year. If you know your mate extremely well and you can deal with all of your mate's faults etc, and you can't see yourself with anyone else, I say go for it. Best wishes!

As for me, time is not of that importance. If both party have a mutual and common understanding, happy with each other and have everyting all plan, then go ahead.
