I need to talk about how the lightbulb helped the world. I mean i know that we would have candles instead of lightbulbs and that the technology (resistors) for light bulbs is used at other important appliances. So, any other ideas?

Increased safety by reducing amount of piping carrying gas within the walls of houses for gas fixtures.
Reduced cleaning by reducing soot and wax drippings.
Drove the development of electrical distribution, providing more balanced usage thoughout the day and night, for more efficiency of production and convenience in using other electrical devices.

It was a great invention. It saves hundreds and thousands of lives each year, as it is much safer, cleaner, easier to use and less expensive than any other type of light, other than the sun. It paved the way to permit us to drive at night and fly planes at night and can be clearly stated to be one of the five or ten greatest inventions for mankinds betterment.
