NO
They followed the mission brief and acted as to what the were to believe was the truth.
After the 2004 incursion in to Iranian waters which the British accepted was their error, the quick "very sorry old chap GPS problem" ended in 3 days. Although that group were not harmed in a physical sense they were mentality abused with mock executions and other threats.
The "Orders Group or O Group" which all service personal have before they go on a mission, (basically it outline mission and objectives)
or in others breaks down as
Ground,
Situation,
Mission
Exercution (to to do it)
Service support
Command and signals
The reponse for staying into Iranian waters and been caught is accept it, be polite and that way return home in the shorted time possible.
(REMEMBER Iran however hostile is not a country we are at war with)
THE ERROR STARTED WHEN
Whitehall did not want to accept the idea of straying in to Iranian waters. From the British GPS the boats were in Iraqi waters, so maintained this line.
The boat crews (now cut of from comms to mother ship) took the decision to follow the O Group guideline as the best way to return home quickly. Unknown to the Crews Whitehall and Downing street took the stance of the true location of the GPS inside the Iraqi waters.
With no communication the crews were alone, maybe thinking that what they were doing was well within the guidelines, this would explain the quick reponse that they said they made an error.
It will be in the debrief, when the it become clearer

GOOD question, but I would like to say that all this was staged or may be the UK can not afford radars for all the vessels, Binoculars and radios...perhaps they were in Iranian waters..perhaps all this commotion was to distract our attention from something bigger...because I know as a fact if the same situation would have happened in a small Latin American country or any country with no OIL OR MILITARY POWER, the UK would have bombed the city..in NO time...
I think Iran capitalized from this event...

The odds are about 99 to 1 they weren't. I seriously doubt the Captain of the ship they were from would have even sent them to inspect if he thought there might be an incident.
And even if they were the people that were taken didn't know they were. So those confessions the troops made were bogus.
The Iranians were just looking for something to divert attention away from their nuclear ambitions. And it worked. That's the reason they let them go so quickly and saying it was out of the 'goodness' of their hearts.

It did not matter as the Iranians were determined to capture British sailors and humiliate the UK.
I hope they try doing the same to a US warship!

That is the problem from the start. The border on the map is pre-war, meaning before the Iraq Iran war. When the war stopped both sides stopped fighting in place, like Korea. The map the British were showing had the old boundry.

curiously, the British were patroling in Iraqi waters with the reason of preventing hands being smuggled into Iraq. frequently, the U.S. does no longer assign it really is deliver to guard a British Naval operation. Why do we sense the choose responsible the victims therefore. it really is amazingly telling about the position one is coming from.

I don't understand why they were allowed to board in the first place, don't the Brits carry arms? I don't think they were in Irani waters, it would be more fun for them to tweak the nose of the English in contested waters than in true Irani waters.
Why not, if not looking for an international incident, just say to the small boat, "You're in my waters, you have an hour, get out" No hostages, no parades, confessions etc.
And, sorry to say the Brits did not show themselves to advantage here, with their gifts and suits and horseplay.

Don't think so.
They were just lost at sea.
Just blunders and slip-ups with human errors in planet of apes.
Since peace on earth goodwill to men for the good of mankind had been created in planet of apes.
Just "Let it Be" and move on forward instead of living in misery in planet of apes.

I think no, but it is difficult when no one agrees where the border is in the Shatt Al Arab Waterway.
