Any type of file can be burned to either type of disc.
If you are trying to burn mp3 or music files, try using Windows Media Player. I have used it many times and successfully burned several music CDs. To burn music cds I recommend using CD-R disks, as some CD-RW disks do not read in all music players. CD-RW disks are good for burning files that you want to edit. Any burning software that you are using should work correctly. I would just suggest trying some different programs to see what works best for you.
Best Wishes

I have two burners - a Samsung and a Dell. Both require that in order to use a CD like a floppy, you must use CD/RWs and they must first be formatted with the software that powers your burner.
Check the User's Guide. It is a simple process, but the data CD cannot be read on another computer unless you download the "reader."
Save yourself some aggravation and get an external hard drive or some flashdrives.

using data disc, you can burn any files, such as mp3, jpg, exe, & etc
its just normal files stored on your computer
you should be able to just add files
i do recomment that you use nero, but other programs can do just as good
your cd burner should support both CD-R and CD-RW
CD-RW just takes longer to burn since they have the ability to be deleted and burned again

Are you specific the previous tension you put in is a DVD burner? i recognize for a on an identical time as, CD-RW/DVD-ROM drives have been very trouble-free; they could burn CDs and examine DVDs, yet not burn DVDs. additionally, optical drives do not require drivers. They use primary drivers that have been used perpetually and are geared up into your working equipment. in spite of "driving force" you put in could desire to be inflicting the priority, because of the fact it is not in any respect assisting. installation a sparkling optical tension includes plugging it in and powering up... the BIOS will see it and you would be waiting to apply it with none extra desirable configuration.

When customers bring in systems with your description, we load http://pclinuxos.com LiveCD and test them, and they always work great, in K3B!
The trouble is Microsoft "loses" drivers, corrupts files, and has really beaten their users into submission in the "protection racket" for which they were convicted as felons, on three continents!

Change your burning software. A lot of burners come with their own software and will only work correct with it.
