Here's some possibilities:

* Experiment to see how shrimp react to light: place a light at one end of an aquarium or oblong plastic tub in a way that the light is focused on a small area - do this in a darkened room so the light bulb is the primary source of light. You may need to to shield part of the water from direct light by using a piece of cardboard. Get several light bulbs to cover a range of wattage: 20, 40, 60, 100, 200 watts. See if shrimp move away or toward the light, and if the brightness level has any effect.

* Experiment on temperature: place a small number of shrimp in a jar filled with water, and put the water in the refrigerator until it cools to around 35-40 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the jar from the refrigerator, and let it warm up slowly to room temperature. While the water is warming, measure the temperature of the water every 10 minutes, and at the time of each temperature measurement, record what the shrimp are doing, such as sitting on the bottom, floating at the surface, swimming very slowly, swimming very actively, etc. From your observations, describe what effect temperature has on their behavior an level of activity.
