RE:

It's affection. Grown cats will hardly ever lick a person, but they will lick other cats or kittens. Kittens , especially if they were seperated from their mothers early, are identifying you as their mom or buddy.

Occasionally, I'll slightly dampen a washcloth with warm water and rub my kitten's face and neck with it- she can't reach those spots and she seems to love it.

My cats have always done it to me. It means he/she likes you. Mine used to get me while I was trying to go to bed. Generally if you have more than one and they get along they lick each other, so it just means hes accepted you as his "family".

You might smell funny to the cat and he or she might want to lick you or he or she just loves you.

I have one cat that licks. It could be the salt on your skin or he is grooming you.

He likes you.. no really sometimes they compulsively do that in replacement of a lost loved one be in a companion kitty previous owner.. it sounds gross, and when my dads cat first started cleaning my arm hair compulsively I thought how gross, but it really was the cleanest my arm had ever been! Good luck. AND God Bless.. I am no expert your other answer hopefully will provide good answers too.

my cats do that to me too. i think it is just a sign of affection and acceptance. if you think about it, cats in a pride groom each other. so, lucky for you you're a part of the pride!

some cats just do that. He might think you're dirty and wants to try to "groom" you, or he could be attracted to the salt in your skin.

If you're watching Tv or otherwise distracted, he may just be trying to get your attention.

IT's not abnormal behavior. It'll probably tone down after awhile, especially if you discourage it.
