Well, when it was STARTED in 1909... America was the only country where professional baseball was played !!
Olympic baseball was instituted as a medal sport in 1992, but in 2005 the International Olympic Committee voted to eliminate baseball, and it will be off the Olympic program in 2012... so blame the Olympic Committee ?
Baseball became truly international after World War II... our troops spread it around the world. Yet still, most pro-baseball is played in the US (and Canada). Japan and Latin America have pro-leagues... and their best players tend to come to the US to play.
Early in 2006, Major League Baseball conducted the inaugural World Baseball Classic, to establish a "true" world's championship in the way the term is normally used for other international sports. Teams of professional players from 16 nations participated, and Japan won the first World Baseball Classic championship.

in particular a term nevertheless used because of the fact the activity started right here interior the U. S.. additionally the main Leagues have not have been given any equivalent league everywhere interior the international. i'm very happy that the very superb gamers from international extensive dream to play interior the main Leagues. Japan has a great Baseball custom, and extremely proficient gamers. yet their leagues are incredibly greater like our Triple A leagues interior the U. S.. Many Latin international locations characteristic superb gamers, and definitely reliable leagues. back, the excellent of those leagues could examine to our Triple A leagues right here. I even have found Baseball is performed very nearly international extensive to a pair quantity. in particular with the aid of considerable League Baseball communities, and gamers paintings to sell the activity international extensive. and tremendously from US military workers stationed international extensive enjoying the activity, and coaching childrens the activity they enjoyed as childrens. i in my opinion have performed Baseball in over 30 distinctive international locations at a similar time as serving my u . s . a ., and enjoying expert baseball. there is not any finer exhilaration than coaching a new child the thank you to hit, throw, and seize a baseball for the 1st time. while the term international sequence replaced into coined. It talked relating to the Baseball international. Which replaced into in actuality merely the united states. at present it is amazingly distinctive, however the international watches the international sequence, yet they understand that the main Leagues are nevertheless the middle of the Baseball international.

The world series was not named after a newspaper that is a myth.
World just sounds more important, some explanations say the name was chosen to allow for when teams from around the world would compete. But that never happened.

We're an egotistical bunch. True in any sport. We have a great deal of collective talent in the U.S., but there are just too many egos involved. We can't really compete on a global scale anymore. Take basketball for example. We used to do really well int he Olympics, but now the players have too much ego and want more and more of the spotlight. Many of them don't pass the ball with their normal teams. They definately won't pass the ball at the Olympics. Their image is much more important to them than playing for their country.
