I've lived in London my whole life and apart from the odd carol singer, leaflet and JW knocking at my door, don't hear much from them.

I think that you will find that compared to the USA - the UK has rather more pleasant and fair minded religious people!

A common misconception is that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door-to-door because they feel it is their duty to "recruit" a householder, or get him to "convert". In fact, Jehovah's Witnesses would go from door-to-door even if there were no hope that anyone would change their religion, or even if no one would listen to them!

That is because Jesus Christ specifically assigned the house-to-house ministry to the Christian congregation, with no regard for specific results.

(Luke 10:1,2) After these things the Lord designated seventy others and sent them forth by twos in advance of him into every city and place to which he himself was going to come. 2 Then he began to say to them: “The harvest, indeed, is great, but the workers are few. Therefore beg the Master of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Jehovah's Witnesses are trained to direct attention to the bible, and move on when their message is unwanted. Since each congregation in the United States tries to call at every home in its territory at least twice each year, there is strong motivation for them to move on where little interest is shown. Also, the Scriptures help the Witnesses to expect little interest from most:

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching ...and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

One on one, it doesn't happen that much. Taken as a whole, here in the US, the religious right have tried to force their agenda down the throat of the American people. They need to learn what Jesus taught. Tolerance for healthy viewpoints on matters concerning everyone is the only way to go. Once they learn that "My way or the highway..." is not conducive to happily coexisting we will be a long way toward peacefully living with each other and finding compromises on issues which we disagree.

Really?

Got any Easter Eggs yet? Are you aware of any opinions about what it's all supposed to be about?

Have you noticed the major 'Christian Festival' being celebrated at this time? The one that occurs at the turn of the seasons from winter to spring? The one that has been celebrated as Easter and is named after Ostera, the Pagan goddess of springtime and is an absolute irrelevance to anything Christian?

If you can't appreciate the insidious opinion pushing Christians are guilty of NOW, then you've already been got at by them.

Christians are forever butting in with their opinions, imposing them on things that have nothing to do with them, trying to make you think they have EVERYTHING to do with them.

Christmas isn't supposed to be Christian, either. It was renamed by Christians to take the opportunity to impose their opinion on the celebration of the Roman god, Saturn. When was the last time you heard a Suturnalian opinion being expressed at Christmas?

People keep saying Christians are forcing their opinion on everyone, because they are.

OK, then. Have you been Christened? If you have, technically, you're a Christian, whether you like it or not. If that's not having an opinion forced on you, I don't know what is.

In the house of lords, church leaders, without any mandate other than "divine", have wrangled seats and votes to influence, change and, sometimes, discard the legislation the democratically elected government wishes to introduce into law. There's another example of having Christians' opinions forced on everyone.

Just because they don't actually come knocking at your door (much), doesn't mean it isn't happening incessantly. If you haven't noticed, it's cause you're not paying attention.
Wake up! .... before it's too late.

I think some people don't feel prepared to express their feelings back. Example, often on here I see people say that they accept the Watchtower and Awake, then they are surprised when the Witnesses come back. It seems some people have a hard time finding the balance between politeness and honesty. You can be honest enough to say I am not interested and at the same time polite enough to not be rude.

Thank You! I have never seen this either! People can change the channel on the T.V. or radio. I never see anyone stop people on the streets. The J.W. are the only religious group that I know of who go knocking on doors. And if a person doesn't want to hear it all they have to say is bye and close the door. Forcing is to strong of a word to be using. Christians do not kidnap and Lock people in rooms and force them to listen to the word of God!

As a born again Christian of 24 years, I don't do that much Bible Bashing ... hardly any. I live my life according to my beliefs and without me telling them, everyone I work with knows I'm a Christian, if they want to know anything or if 'religion' crops up in conversation then I'm going to add my two-penneth but if they don't want to know, why force it down their neck?

They're talking about America, where evangelical Christians are trying to remove Evolution from Science classes, force the media to pick and choose stories that reflect only their opinions, erect monuments to their religion on our Court House lawns.

They haven't learned philosophy yet. Once you learn the basic philosophic principles, a Christian drops to the level of kindergartner in this arena. And a child can't force anything on you. They can get wide eyed very quickly and managed by a real adult.
