or do I fill out the state fasfa for the state that I live in?

I believe you only get state aid if you are going to a college in the same state you live in. I'm from N.Y. I can't get any assistance from the state if I decide to go to UCLA.

You can fill it out for the state you stay in, because on the fasfa it will ask you what college you plan on attending and state.

The FAFSA is a federal form, and you can put up to six school codes on it, regardless of the states the colleges are in. I don't know of any state that has an equivalent form, because most will just use the information from the federal form.

FAFSA is federal aid, not state.

You'll simply note your current address and then the name of the college you plan on attending regardless of what state it's in.
