Whenever I'm depressed, I have really high anxiety.

Whenever I'm happy, people will think I'm crazy because I act like a crazy person whenever I'm happy.

I know a lot of persons with the same characteristics as you. And they are normal. We are all different in expressing our feelings. So I don't think you need any medication, only moderation.

I think you need to belong to a group. I think you're very alone. Find a group, any group. It can be a club, a sports team, a group at the library, people who get together to exercise in the park, any group. You can start a group yourself first by e-mail, then holding meetings at a park, going to a museum, reading a magazine together. All of these activities will keep you away from acting like a crazy person and needing medication. Medication will not solve any of your problems just as taking an aspirin when you have a headache does not solve anything at all.

You probably only need medication if these moods are negatively affecting your life. I went through a rough patch and had crazy highs and lows like that as a result of depression. I was constantly wound up. I was either crying or cleaning because of all the nervous energy. I went on Zoloft and Ativan for a while and it helped me. I didn't become addicted, but that was just my experience. Everybody is different. Good luck to you!

i went thru exactly the same a few of years ago , suffering with anxiety and getting panic attacks. i didn't realise it was depression untill i went to the doctors. I was given prozac and after a couple of months went back to work and sorted myself out. Don't listen to anyone that says its wrong to take anti depresents. Most of the people who say this have never been in your situation and are just narrow minded. All the medication dose is help to balance the natrally occurring serotonin . I took this medication for 3 years and had no trouble coming off it.
If i was you i'd get a doctors opinion but don't be put off by a few idiots that have heard from some one that they are all bad.
Hope things work out for you

i don't think you have enough symptoms for you to take medications..people are different..we all have different ways in expressing ourselves. if a person is depressed, it is normal to have high anxiety. if you're happy, then you have all the right to act like you want..

i'll give you a scenario in psychiatry where you need medications.. check yourself and go find out if you do need them

you'll need medications if:
>you feel happy for no reason at all
>you easily get irritated, sad and quiet at times and then immediately become over-happy (it becomes like a cycle - - this is called the bipolar disorder)
>you hear voices and see things that are not there (hallucinations - - common in schizophrenia)

now that's something that needs curing..but for you, i don't think so

Not unless it is totally out of your control.

An understanding friend is who you need. You sound high-strung......
Meditate... it will teach you to keep any emotion under check. Any medication will be addictive and that is absolutely a NO-NO. Besides, any medication ultimately is only a sedative for such ailments and you can do without them.
Meditate.... exercise... be with friends....!

You could be bi-polar or manic/depressive. You should talk to your doctor and he or she can point you in the right direction. Best wishes!
