I hate to admit this, but Julius C pretty much hit the nail on the head. I admit, I swear when I'm really angry and I really hate doing it, but at the same time, it seems that I can't stop it from coming out. Kind of like curse vomit. (I know, gross)

People HAVE TO swear when they get angry? Are the penalized if they get angry and don't swear? Is this a universal law or just in your neighbourhood??

They don't. At first it is a choice, then an addiction. In time they don't even realize what they are saying.
It is also a conscious choice to discontinue this type of behavior.
Jesus once said " It's not what goes into a mans mouth that defiles him , but what comes out"
Your words are a picture of your soul. It's like a bumper sticker that says who you are.
Who are you?

People swear in order to avoid self-destruction, or the annihilation of others. Swearing gets rid of slush-fund explosions: violence, suicide, murder, war which are the wages of total breakdown in communications between self and others.

I think it is a way for them to feel in contorl when they use neagtive words. Yet they are really out of control when they can't calm down and be civil without needing to get angry.

Lack of control of their feelings - built up emotions that they've been holding in and when released the hurt/pain comes out with a roar

For me, it's a good way to release anger. I would rather curse than hit, kick or throw things and possibly injure someone in the process.

Because they don't know any better.
I read somewhere on the Internet that cursing by adults is similar behavior to crying by infants. It is not really communicating, it is just an uncontrolled, emotional outburst. They think that they have made some progress, but really, they are just whining like an infant.
