Sometimes medications can cause seizure disorders such as epilepsy to occur.

We aren't sure but my mom and I think that a shot I had as a baby may have been the reason I had a lot of problems with seizures. In my case it was the DPT (they call it by another name).

It is said that having a seizure after an injection is rare but I have to wonder about that sometimes. I think that is something that is up for debate and will continue to be for some time to come.

Also, sometimes epilepsy can start out of nowhere. To learn more about epilepsy check out: http://www.epilepsy.org

Having been diagnosed with a seizure disorder at age 19, I understand the difficulties in trying to make sense of what is going on. It is important to recognize that there are literally thousands of "triggers" that will cause a seizure. Some of these triggers cause a "provoked" seizure, which when this trigger is removed or resolved, the seizure will go away and you will not have an ongoing issue. Yes, flashing lights can cause seizures, however, this occurs in an extremely low percentage of people (<1%). Ultimately with me, a chemical imbalance with some neurotransmitters caused me to suffer my seizures. This was determined through blood work and an EEG. Hopefully you have had one of these tests performed, as it can pinpoint the affected region of your brain. The important thing is to take your medication(s) as prescribed, stick to it, regardless of side effects, and hopefully your seizures will be very well controlled. Mine have been controlled since I was put on medication in 2001. Good luck to you.

Epilepsy is no respecter of persons, you can get epilepsy at birth all the way up to just before death ! Epilepsy is not contagious, you can't get it from a person that is a friend but it is passed from parent to child in some cases(genetic)
It can be caused by a hit on the heard, restricted blood vessel in the brain!
As we get older, our bodies change, like hormone change in our bodies especially in children! Some times that change can cause epilepsy!

Have you had some kind of trauma to the brain? Do you work around electronics a lot? Some patterns of flashing lights will trigger seizures, if you are around them a lot.
